Guisborough Town Council held its annual Local Craft and Produce Show in Sunnyfield House on Saturday 11th August.
The show attracted a good variety of exhibits and the standard was excellent throughout all of the sections.
The Town Mayor, Councillor Mrs Janice Skelton, thanked all of the exhibitors, organising team and volunteers for making the show a success.
The Town Council were informed of the Heroes Welcome Scheme by a local resident in June 2011. It was decided this was an excellent way for the town to show support for our Armed Forces personnel. Introduction of the scheme in Guisborough is especially poignant as the Town Mayor welcomed soldiers from the 2nd battalion of the Yorkshire Regiment when they paraded through the town on 20th July 2011.
34 retailers and businesses in Guisborough have now followed the growing number of towns and cities by joining up to the scheme and offering a warm welcome and in plenty of cases a discount to any member of the Armed Forces.
The scheme was officially launched on Friday 14th October 2011 by the Town Mayor, Councillor Mike Kilby and John Senior who created the scheme in 2008.
The Town Mayor said I would like to thank all of the businesses in the town who have signed up to the scheme. It is such a marvelous way to show collective support for our Armed Forces personnel who carry out such valuable work both at home and abroad.
Further details of the scheme are available from https://heroeswelcome.co.uk/ or by telephoning Ian Jones at Guisborough Town Council (01287 610193).
Guisborough Retailers and Businesses are currently being invited to update their details, or, indeed, join the scheme.
